Youth Plus Membership

We are pleased that you are showing an interest in Youth Plus.

You must be between the ages of 14 and 25 years and a member to join in. Youth Plus is different from the Youth Club, because it is run voluntarily by parents, and it's purpose is to help vulnerable young people with disabilities to make friends and to take part in social activities.
Young people, who do not have disabilities, can also enjoy the activities of Youth Plus.

Members are:
Young people with and without disabilities who help, with their families, to run Youth Plus, and young people with and without disabilities who 'mix in' and agree to contribute positively.

There are two kinds of membership.

A 'Drop in' member - who can join in the activities at Ongar Youth Centre from 7pm-9.30pm on Thursday evenings.
You will be able to enjoy ongoing sports activities led by a National Organisation called Nacro.
Enjoy monthly Outdoors Activities at the Harlow Outdoor Pursuits Centre.
Enjoy Arts and Crafts, an Internet connected Computer, Karaoke, Pool Table, Table tennis, Music and a lot more.

A 'Full' member - who can join in as above but also join in the wider programme of activities at Youth Plus.
There is an ongoing calendar of activities throughout the year that are suggested and organised by members for members. These include weekends on Narrow Boats, Camping and Youth Hostelling trips, Shows, Skating, Cinema, Video Nights etc. You name it, and we do it!

For this membership you must be willing to contribute in some way to the running of Youth Plus. For example, you might like to help to organise an activity for the group of to buddy someone in an activity that is less able than you. You might have a parent who would help on the rota occasionally, or who would help to transport young people on a trip. There are many ways to contribute to Youth Plus.

Great isn't it! This way members of Youth Plus always make sure that it's members can meet together, and always have plenty to do.

There are also volunteering opportunities at Youth Plus. You'll receive training and accreditation - good for a C.V.!
